Fall Newsletter 2008
Family Volunteering and FUN!
One of the most common complaints we hear from families in Camp Fire is, “I would love to volunteer, but I just don’t have the time.” Our goal this year is to provide our families with convenient and fun opportunities to volunteer together. We realize how hectic everyday life can be, but we also realize that family volunteering is a hands-on way to teach children the values of kindness, compassion, tolerance, community responsibility and good citizenship.
Camp Fire’s family volunteering projects are incorporated in our monthly events and provide opportunities for the whole family to enjoy time together. And since
everyone is so busy, why not join an organization that serves your whole family? Our monthly events and service projects give families a unique opportunity to spend time
together engaging in activities in a comfortable and casual atmosphere. Monthly events include the Harvest Festival we had this past week, on October 15th which was a great success. We were happy to see so many new faces and we look forward to seeing you all back for our next event. Future events include:
November:
“Stone Soup,” serving Turkey Soup and various fall activities. We will also be collecting non-perishable food and making tray favors and Thanksgiving Decorations to donate to a local shelter or food pantry.
December: In December we will be having a Holiday Open House to thank all of our members for participating in our events and for being such an important part of Camp Fire and our community. The community service part of this event will be a mitten and hat collection to help children in need keep warm this winter. Please stop in with your donation and enjoy some holiday cheer!
Volunteering as a family provides quality time for busy families, strengthens communication and bonds, and positively impacts local communities across the nation.
