Group Leaders and Site Coordinators for Camp Fire After-School Programs

Camp Fire USA is looking for enthusiastic individuals who love working with children as part of a team and who have the energy to keep up with them! Ideal candidates will have experience working with school-age children in a licensed program, previous experience leading games and other recreational activities, and the maturity and responsibility to support Camp Fire USA’s mission to “build caring, confident youth and future leaders.”  First Aid and CPR certification is preferable, but training can also be obtained after hire.

Main responsibilities would include:

1)  Appropriately interacting with youth and providing positive

self-guidance to develop problem solving skills.

2)  Assisting with keeping the program area neat, sanitary, and safe from hazards.

3)  Working as part of a team with other staff and the Administrator toplan and implement quality activities to keep the classroom environment stimulating and enjoyable for the children.

4)  Attending monthly meetings and/or trainings as scheduled by the Administrator in accordance with licensing regulations.   

 This is a great opportunity for education, psychology and sociology majors to get field work experience, and offers a flexible schedule for college students.  Programs operate Monday through Friday, from 1:45 pm (or later) until 6:00 pm and follow the Lynn and Salem Public School calendars.

Executive Director

The Board of Directors of Camp Fire North Shore is seeking candidates for the position of Executive Director to ensure the fulfillment of the Camp Fire vision of Building Caring, Confident Youth and Future Leaders for the North Shore region.

Camp Fire North Shore is an active affiliate of Camp Fire USA, based in Kansas City, Missouri, and serves over 1600 children and their families each year with an annual budget of approximately $600,000.  Programs include school-based educational and child care programs, club programs run by volunteers, and a very vibrant summer day camp.  Currently staffing includes 2 full time and 80 part time/seasonal staff, along with many volunteers.

This Executive Director serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation.  In this capacity, this individual is responsible for implementing the policies of the Board of Directors, as well as Annual Plans and Goals and the financial, program, and administrative management of the Corporation.

Executive Director responsibilities include developing, overseeing and ensuring quality youth services, marketing and promoting Camp Fire in the local community, managing human resources, overseeing and maintaining the fiscal conditions of the organizations, raising funds through grants, events, and other solicitations, and planning strategically for the future of Camp Fire North Shore.

Qualifications include:

  1. Bachelors Degree in education or related field, with five years experience in managing/operating youth programs; 10 years experience in related field can be substituted for this requirement; strong passion for meeting the developmental needs of youth in a creative and proactive manner.
  2. Knowledge of youth development programs and protocols
  3. Knowledge of Camp Fire rules and services preferred, but not required
  4. Skill in leading a non-profit organization to establish and fulfill its mandate to its constituency
  5. Skill in hiring, evaluating, and managing a team of employees with similar passion for youth.
  6. Skill in development and managing budgets.
  7. Excellent ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  8. Ability to build support for the Camp Fire mission and programs within the local community.
  9. Ability to direct fund raising activities, including events and grant preparation.
  10. Ability to successfully implement a high quality program of services for local youth.
