Camp Fire USA's 100th Birthday, 2010
Happy Birthday Camp Fire!
100 years and going strong

Many people do not know that Camp Fire USA, which was started as Camp Fire Girls, began in the year 1910.  William Taft was president, the Panama Canal was just being dug, only four states allowed women to vote freely, Babe Ruth was still four years away from playing for the Boston Red Sox, the NAACP was founded, and the Dow Jones Industrial average closed that year at 81.36.  The first local chapter of Camp Fire began just a few years later, and by 1913 over 60,000 girls were part of the club and camping program.

Carrying on that spirit of helping kids become all they can be, without regard for economic background, race, religion or disablity, is what will help us find success in the next 100 years.

The challenges that face our organization at this juncture provide a wonderful opportunity for you to be involved in shaping the next 100 years.  What we do right now will determine what kind of organization we are in the next century.  It won't take long for you to find an opportunity to be involved if you browse this site for a few minutes.

Your generous support of Camp Fire USA, North Shore Council will help us continue to serve the children of our region.
